Shared Hosting VS. Dedicated Server

Shared Hosting

The obvious advantage of shared hosting is cost effective.
Problems of sharing an IP address
Several hundred websites might be on one server in shared hosting, all sites will share one single IP address. You share one IP address with all of the accounts on your server. The problem of shared IP's is that some countries censor particular websites by their IP address. If a website they censor is on the same server as yours, then your website and the hundreds of others on that server are also blocked. This means that any clients in that country would be unable to view your site. Another problem is if other sites in the same server with you are blacklisted because of unethical activities such as spamming or generating illegal script, those sharing the same IP with them will also being banned altogether by search engine. For cheap shared hosting, you may buy a dedicated IP address at extra cost, like $30 a year.
Slow server response
Due to the fact that the server may be hosting a number of websites, the heavy traffic from other users will consume most of the bandwidth. When the server has trouble responding, your visitors are the first to suffer, they will feel the slow response time such as difficulty accessing your website. This is because server will respond to the requested file in order of the queue. In some cases, the pages might time out, or even not load up at all. Along with improvement of web hosts’ technology, slow server response is not frequently happened with good shared hosting providers.
Dedicated Server
With dedicated server you have a full server dedicated to your website. This gives you a lot freedom and you can host potentially hundreds of your own websites. With dedicated server, you don't need to worry about other users slowing down the performance with their traffic or crashing the server with poor scripting. The response time of the dedicated server will be much faster compared to shared hosting. Fast loading time will make your visitors happy.
The data stored in dedicated server could be less vulnerable by hackers or malicious codes because of its own firewall.
With dedicated server, you are your own boss to setup and control it.
