That all sounds great, but I think you should mention the limitations of using 1and1 to host your website, particularly if you have any intention of growing the site by using customer feedback. Because the CGIs offered as part of the basic package have non of the standard features you would hope to see from a responsible host, i.e. no registration is necessary, this means that the forums are open to cyber attack and will quickly fill up with offers to watch free porn, sell cheap medications and put in in touch with escorts. Not the kind of thing that you really want to have associated with your website under normal circumstances, and particularly not if your website is directed toward vulnerable people.
Now you’re probably thinking that the CGIs come free so what am I complaining about. Well I’m complaining because there’s no option to use an alternative to what is provided, because 1and1 do not support alternatives such as PHP and ASP. Unless of course you upgrade the package to a more expensive alternative, and by the time you find that out you are locked into a contract.
