How to transfer your domain name from Homestead service to others?
Posted By CheapHostingChoice
If you want to transfer your domain name from Homestead to another domain registrar, you need to unlock the domain name and to get authorization code in order to transfer your domain name.
To protect against fraudulent transfers, Homestead places domains in a "Protected" or "Locked" status, and all domain transfers require a unique authorization code.
Step 1: unlock your domain name:
1. Log in to your website account.
2. Click ‘Domains & Email’ from the menu.
3. Click ‘Domains’ in the sub-menu that appears.
4. Click the ‘View All’ link.
You will see a list of all your domain names and the websites they are associated with.
5. Click ‘edit domain lock’ for the domain name that you would like to unlock.
6. Follow the on-screen prompts to unlock your domain name.
Step 2: request your transfer authorization code:
Repeat #1 to #4 of step 1, then Click the ‘domain authorization code’ for the desired domain name.
Follow the on-screen prompts to have the authorization code sent to your administrative contact email address.
Once you’ve completed above two steps, you can now tansfer your domain out of Homestead to a new registrar.
Note: When you have transferred your domain name to your new registrar, please create a new help ticket to notify Homestead. So that they can remove the domain name upgrade from your website account, preventing any future billing for the upgrade.
