Canceling a web hosting service by customers are happening a lot by many reasons, such as poor network uptime, non-professional customer support, transferring to a cheaper host, etc. When you plan to choose a web hosting plan, you’d better to read the cancellation policy. Signing up a web hosting is easy, canceling it is not that easy.
There are many conditions for canceling your web hosting account. Let’s talk about them.
1. Your cancellation is in 30 day money back guarantee period.
a. Your web host may ask you contact their support team to request the cancellation and refund.
b. The refund may be only valid for credit-card payments. In this case, the web host only gives you credit for their web hosting or other services.
c. The set up fee, domain registration fee, and any additional services fee are not refundable.
d. If your plan include free domain, some web hosting companies may take your domain name if you don’t want to take it. In the case, the domain registration fee will not be charged. But they have no obligation to do so.
2. Your cancellation is not valid for money back guarantee.
a. You shall be obligated to pay all fees and charges accrued prior to the effectiveness of such cancellation.
b. Most web hosts ask 30 days prior written notice for the cancellation. If you send the request of canceling your account today, your web hosting provider may cancel your account 30 days following they receive your request.
c. Most web hosts charge a minimum charge as an early cancellation fee, like $35.
d. If your plan includes a free domain, a fee for the domain will be deducted from your refund. If you do not wish to keep the domain name, you web host may take possession of the domain and the fee will not be charged. Again, they have no obligation to do so.
e. You web hosting provider may (but is not obligated to) refund (or may not refund) to you all pre-paid fees for basic hosting services for the full months remaining after effectiveness of cancellation, usually there is no partial month fees will be refunded.
It’s very important to read the cancellation and refund policy before signing up a web hosting. You cannot 100% sure that the web hosting services will satisfy you before you test them by yourself.
