What hide behind web hosting advertising?
Posted By CheapHostingChoice
Web hosting business is very competitive. In order to attract more customers, web hosts put beautiful ad slogan on their website, especially on the home page. We can not say all of these ad are scams, but you really need to understand the meaning behind some advertising.
Let’s find out what behind those charming ad slogans:
1. Unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth
We can say this is absolutely a scam. First, no web hosts has unlimited space and bandwidth resources. How can they offer you "unlimited" things that they don’t have? In addition, each web host who offer "unlimited space and bandwidth" has limitation of space and bandwidth usage. These information is located in TOS (term of services) or Term of Conditions.
2. Monthly price
Most web hosts put the lowest monthly price on their home pages with big letters. You need to know that this low price is actually not a monthly payment price. Usually it is the price for at least 24 months payment, even 60 months payment plan. If you are looking for monthly or annually payment hosting plans, go to detail hosting features page or pricing page to find the prices that you never see on home page.
3. Free domain
Many web hosts offer free domain name. Is this true? Yes, you don’t need to pay for the domain when you sign up hosting account. Your web hosting company pay it for you. Nevertheless, most web hosts offer free domain for first year, you need to pay for the renewal.
How about free domain for life (or for ever)? We should read it as free domain for the life of web hosting account. When you cancel your hosting account, you need to pay for this free domain. Usually the charge is much higher than regular registration fee.
4. Money back guarantee
Many web hosting providers offer 30 day money back guarantee or even any time money back guarantee. Be careful here, some of money backs are only available for credit card payment. If you use the payment method other than credit card, you are not guaranteed to get your money back. The web host will give you credit for using their products or services.
There are some web hosting scams really existing. Like a web host offer 24/7 technical support, but they just give you a email. I don’t think they are going to answer emails 24×7. You need the phone support for sure. Some web hosting providers even don’t have any contact information.
The way to avoid web hosting scams is to read TOS carefully. Don’t just look at well-decorated home page and attractive ad.

I strongly recommend staying away from Xygenhosting. Their hosting is terrible. Their websites are down half of the time.
