(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Infrastructure solutions provider The Nexus Group (www.nxs.net) announced last week it has partnered with R1Soft (www.r1soft.com) to enhance its backup and disaster recovery offerings using Continuous Data Protection.

The announcement comes a couple weeks after UK web hosting provider Burstfire Networks revealed it has deployed R1Soft CDP to offer customers a hosted off-site backup service, BurstfireBackOnTrack.

The Nexus Group provides a range of services including colocation, cloud computing, data back-up, high speed Internet, and information security compliance to over 3,500 businesses and institutions across the state of Tennessee.

The company says it was seeking a partner for six months in an effort to meet the growing demand for its business continuity and disaster recovery solutions.

It will offer R1Soft CDP as a part of a fully managed backup service to both end customers and its partners.

Nexus was looking for a backup solution that could manage the initial data transfer better than other options on the market.

R1Soft CDP’s virtual full backup technology met Nexus’ requirements because it requires only one full backup, the initial replica.

As a result, Nexus is able to complete the first backup at the client’s site, transporting the initial replica to its secure data center, then manage and execute subsequent data replications virtually via CDP’s multi-user, multi-tenant Web interface.

Additionally, R1Soft CDP’s bare-metal restore feature allows Nexus to restore a client’s entire server to a previous state directly from backup media, without having to first install the O/S or backup application.

“By partnering with R1Soft, The Nexus Group will further elevate the scope and effectiveness of its business continuity and disaster recovery solutions,” says David Wartell, vice president of R1Soft, a division of BBS Technologies. “The selection of CDP technology sends TNG’s current and prospective customers a clear message that TNG places paramount importance on the security of their mission-critical data.”
