Schneider Electric Acquires Viridity Software to Improve DCIM Suite

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center energy management provider Schneider Electric announced on Tuesday that it has acquired the intellectual property and software behind the Viridity EnergyCenter 2.0 platform, a DCIM management software.
This acquisition comes a month after Schneider Electric named Olivier Delepine its VP of the UAE and Gulf countries for APC by Schneider Electric.
According to the press release, the software enables the auto-discovery of IT assets to optimize capacity utilization. Schneider Electric says it will use this investment to improve the StruxureWare for Data Center Operations DCIM suite.
A recent Gartner report says that companies must not treat data center facilities and IT assets separately. StruxureWare for Data Centers is a combination of its DCIM and data center facility management software tools, according to the press release. The complete suite provides data gathering, monitoring, automation, and planning and implementation functionalities to allow an integrated view of all the physical systems of the data center.
“We are very pleased to welcome the Viridity team and their award-winning Energy Center 2.0 platform and look forward to incorporating this solution into Schneider Electric’s line of software solutions,” Jim Simonelli, CTO, IT business, Schneider Electric said in a statement. “Our entrepreneurial cultures are extremely complementary and we expect immediate synergies in the development of Schneider Electric’s next generation DCIM software.”
Schneider Electric says its ability to measure energy consumption accurately and by device will differentiate Schneider Electric and the StruxureWare for Data Center Operations suite and help its customers make the most of their energy resources.
